Diapers
You need about 2 ½ dozen medium disposable diapers. Many people try to use diapers of very small size; but babies grow fast and your small diaper cake will not be good enough. How to make a diaper cake:
1. Take 50 feet of narrow ribbon and cut it to small pieces of 1 foot each. Then, roll each diaper with the ribbon and tie it around with the 1 foot ribbon you already got.
2. The next step is to prepare the tiers for the diaper cake. As this is going to be a three tier cake. Use the baby bottle/empty cardboard roll in the center place of first tier. The, place the rolled and tied set of 6 diapers around it.
3. Take a narrow string of ribbon and tie it around the bottle. Make sure you tie it tightly so that it will not become loose. As the first tier is going to be a base and support for the second and third tier, you need to make it stronger so the cake will not fall. Once after tying, check if it is uniformly tied and there is no loose part.
4. Then, create the second tier. The instructions remain same as first one, but you don’t use the bottle/cardboard roll for the center part, rather you have to use some of the diapers for the inner part. And you do not need 15 diapers.
5. Use the ribbon to tie all the diapers together. Keep them tight.
6. For the third layer, use about 30 diapers and follow the same instructions like first and second step. Use ribbons to tie the diapers properly for the baby diaper cake and keep a little loose end and make small loops for decoration.
7. Place some adhesive tape on the platter or circular card board and keep the first tier on it and fix it on the platter. Make sure the first tier of your baby diaper cake is placed properly.
8. Attach the first tier to the tape. Place the second tier on the top of first tier. Attach with adhesive tape. Place it properly and make sure the center of the two tiers remain the same, or else it will look odd. Assemble the third tier on the top of second and attach with tape.
9. Tuck the small baby items like rattlers, pacifiers, combs, bibs, teething rings, etc inside the ribbon and arrange them in different places of the each tier. You can use ribbons of different colors and shapes if you need. And the number of baby items you should be using should be to the size of the cake and placed in a creative way. Take the 1 inch ribbon around each tier and tighten so the cake looks pretty attractive and also secure from inside.
